Human errors in nursing – viewpoints on patient safety

This course is about human errors in nursing. Student get to know factors that are related to close call or error situations. Course can be completed totally independently.

On Moodle platform is a Video story of a registered nurse who works in infectious diceases ward. Video tells her working days and student observes situations that can be related to human errors in nursing and affect to patient safety. Student writes learner’s diary based on his/ her observation, own experiences in nursing and evidence-based literature.

There isn’t any contact lessons, or group works on this course.

Pass/ fail

Pass:

• The student understands the principles and main concepts of patient safety.
• The student does the assignment required for the online course.
• The student reflects on the written assignment.
• The student uses evidence-based knowledge in the written assignment.

Assignments are evaluated in the end of the month

Ilmoittautuminen sähköisellä lomakkeella avautuu 20.11.2023 klo 8.00. Opintojakso on maksuton läsnäoleville tutkinto-opiskelijoille, avoimen amk:n polkuopiskelijoille sekä ammatillisten opettajakorkeakoulujen opiskelijoille ja vaihto-opiskelijoille. Avoimen AMK:n yksittäisiä opintojaksoja suorittaville opiskelijoille opintojakso on maksullinen (10€/opintopiste). Maksullisena opintojaksolle ilmoittautumiseen on oma ilmoittautumislomake, joka julkaistaan 20.11.2023 tämän sivun yläosassa.

The courses are free of charge for degree students at universities of applied sciences and for Open Studies’ path students. Also students from schools of professional teacher education and exchange students may select courses and complete the courses free of charge. The enrollment period begins on 20th November at 8 am.
