Nutrition for sports and physical activity

Opintojakson kuvaus

Objective:
  • You are able to apply your knowledge of nutrition to support strength and endurance training.
  • You are able to apply your knowledge of nutrition when guiding and counseling athletes and people exercising regularly.
Content: The course content consists of three topics related to the:
  • Basic knowledge of nutrition (1 ECTS credit)
  • Energy demand and consumption during exercise, energy metabolism (2 ECTS credits)
  • Nutrition, fluid balance and recovery to support endurance and strength training (2 ECTS credits)

Arviointikriteerit

The course is assessed as passed – failed. Approved completion of the course (5 ECTS CR) requires that the learning tasks and tests and the three (3) mandatory exams have been successfully completed. More detailed evaluation criteria can be found on the course platform. If you are planning to study in the summer, it is good to know that the credits are recorded in August. More detailed instructions are presented on the course platform.

The course has learning tasks and tests and three (3) mandatory exams. You need a computer during the course. The course has some practical training. You must complete your studies within three (3) months.

First nonstop start is 9th January 2024 and after that date students can start their studies approximately within a week after enrolling on this course. The estimated time for completing this course is three (3) months. Last date to register is May 26, 2024.
