Physical Activity and Wellbeing in Cold

You know the physiological effects of cold and understand the physical and psychological effects of cold on a person’s ability to function, health, and movement. You understand the importance of the cold to the implementation of exercise and know the risks associated with cold exposure and the appropriate methods to manage them. You take into account the requirements of clothing and protection against the cold set by northern conditions, and you know the most typical accidents related to cold exposure.

Theme 1. Physical Activity in Cold: physical and psychological performance, wellbeing and movement Theme 2. Cold Protection: unintentional injuries in cold

After this course, you will: -know the physiological effects of cold and understand the physical and psychological effects of cold on a person’s ability to function, health, and movement. -understand the importance of the cold to the implementation of exercise and know the risks associated with cold exposure and the appropriate methods to manage them. -take into account the requirements of clothing and protection against the cold set by northern conditions and know the most typical accidents related to cold exposure.

Arviointikriteerit

Preliminary plan: -One exam in each of the five sections -Three reflective reports (3-5 pages in length)

To pass the course, the student has to: -Pass all of the five exams -Turn in three reflective reports (details of the report in Moodle)

Approved Human physiology and performance in cold: – You know the physiological effects of cold and understand the physical and psychological effects of cold on a person’s ability to function, health, and movement.

Cold protection and unintentional injuries in cold: – You understand the risks associated with cold exposure and the appropriate methods to manage them. You know the most typical accidents related to cold exposure.

Failed Human physiology and performance in cold: – You don’t know the physiological effects of cold and don’t understand the physical and psychological effects of cold on a person’s ability to function, health, and movement.

Cold protection and unintentional injuries in cold: – You don’t understand the risks associated with cold exposure and the appropriate methods to manage them. You don’t know the most typical accidents related to cold exposur
