Course description

The student learns the basic concepts of cultural tourism and understands the potential of cultural tourism for the community and economy. The interdisciplinary approach widens the knowledge of the tourism industry/ creative industries.

Basic concepts in cultural tourism Introduction to the Tourism Industry/ Creative Industries (depending on the student’s major study programme; e.g. cultural management students choose Introduction to the Tourism Industry ) Current phenomena in cultural tourism: live like a local, sustainable travel Cultural tourism products in Finland Exploration of cultural tourism offerings in international destinations

Prerequisites

Basic studies completed in the major study programme Alternatively, basic understanding of the operational field acquired through previous studies or work experience.

Course way of working and time table

The course is virtual and implemented in Moodle learning environment. The course is based to self studying.

The deadlines for the course assignments will be given in the beginning of the course. Latest deadline for all assignments is at the end of the course.
