Collaborative problem solving in multidisciplinary networks

Learning outcomes

After the course the student will be able to utilise multidisciplinary expert networks, creative thinking and different technologies for solving problems related to forest bioeconomy. The student will understand the complexity of forest bioeconomy and its effect on, for example, well-being, tourism, legislation, education and regional economy. The student knows the basic concepts and principles of forest bioeconomy.

Core content

During the course, multidisciplinary teams will define an actual, current forest bioeconomy related problem and design a solution (product, process, service, procedure, etc.) for it together with forest bioeconomy experts from working life. Multidisciplinary problem solving and developmental ways of working will be trained. Experts, research knowledge and different technologies are utilised for designing the solution.

Förkunskapskrav

The course is suitable for students from any discipline and teams will be formed as multidisciplinary teams consisting of students from different universities and countries. The focus is on wellbeing in the context of forest bioeconomy. In the previous implementations, the students have been for example from teacher education, it engineering, forestry, biology, business, law and administration and environmental sciences.

Bedömningskriterier

Evaluation criteria 1-5.

The evaluation of the course is based on the approved completion of the course assignments, peer and expert evaluation of the digitally presented solution and participation in joint online meetings. The solution will be assessed based on: the definition of the problem:

  • the definition of the problem
  • novelty of the solution
  • suitability of the solution to the defined problem
  • justification of the solution based on research knowledge
  • presentation of the solution

Arbetsformer och schemaläggning

The solutions will be shared on the online platform. Technology that enhances interaction and place and time independence will be utilised and supported during the course.

Independent work and familiarising with the electronic material 35 h. Online groupwork 100 h (of which max 10 h facilitated by lecturers online).
