Business Mathematics and Statistics

Course description

The student understands basic mathematical and statistical analysis methods and how they are applied to real world business situations. The student is able to perform the most relevant calculations related to finance and investment decisions. The student understands the fundamentals of statistical analysis and is able to analyze data and apply appropriate statistical techniques.

• Time Value of Money
• Interest and compound interest calculations
• Annuities and loans
• Basic statistical analysis
• Distributions and descriptive statistics
• Basic use of a spreadsheet program’s financial functions and basic features of a statistical software

• Assignments, Quizzes & Tasks 50 hours
• Self-directed learning 60 hours
• Virtual Teaching: 12 hours

Course way of working and time table

• The course is a fully online course with videos presentations by the lecture and practical walkthrough videos. Video conference times will be according to the timetable that is yet to be finalised.
• The course online learning environment is Moodle – an email with instructions on how to access the learning environment will be sent to students one week before the course starts.
• The course work is completed by each student individually.
• Virtual through Teams Mondays at 13-16
