Objectives:
I communicate appropriately in multicultural work environments of my field in English both orally and in writing. I follow the development of my field in English. I recognize my skills and areas for development. Language proficiency level: CEFR B2.1
Content:
Internationality, multiculturalism, courage to communicate in a foreign language, key terminology of the field, oral and written communication situations of the field, English sources and publications of the field.
Language proficiency level: CEFR B1
Scale: 0-5.
Grading is based on the course assignments and written exam.
The course is available online in Moodle to be taken independently. Other than certain deadlines there are no set times or lessons. However, there will be two distant learning lessons to attend.
Student chooses two distant learning lessons to attend to in Zoom from the given options (one in May and one in August).
English comprehension and writing skills are evaluated through the Moodle tasks. A written test is taken in Exam room. The test can be taken in any location that has Exam in use. Proficiency in spoken English is evaluated via videos and recordings.
The course starts on May 6th and ends on August 25th. There are deadlines for Moodle tasks throughout the course.
This implementation is suited for students of engineering (mechanical, energy, civil engineering, construction architecture, construction management, building services, electrical and automation engineering) information technology, business, culture and arts (music, dance, communication), and social and health care (nursing, emergency care, physiotherapy, midwifery, preventive health care, optometry, social services, dental health care, occupational therapy).

The enrolment form opens on March 18, 2024 at 8:00 a.m. The course is free of charge for degree students (Bachelor’s/Master’s) at universities of applied sciences and for Open Studies’ path students. Also students from schools of professional teacher education and exchange students may complete the course free of charge. The link to the form can be found at the top of this page (”Enrol”). When registering, you must use the email address of your university of applied sciences. After successful registration, you will receive a confirmation message where you can find more information.
