Course description

Learning outcomes and content:

Environmental Cycles & Sustainable Bioeconomy Students will learn about

• critical Earth cycles and their impacts
• circular bioeconomy principles in action
• different technologies for circular bioeconomy
• the measurements used for sustainable development

Technical cycles Students will learn about

• principles of a circular economy for technical materials
• policies and regulations driving development in key industries
• principles for circular business development
• circular and ecological design methodologies

Climate change Students will learn about

• the history and reality of climate change-its impact on human systems
• climate change theory and climate science
• climate change as a sustainable development challenge
• knowledge and institutions for mitigating and adapting to climate change

Prerequisites

Principles of Sustainability and Circular Economy 5 ECTS

Course way of working and time table

Study according to your personal timetable, everyone can choose their own. The entire course can be completed independently.

This course is divided into 3 major areas:

• Environmental Cycles & Sustainable Bioeconomy
• Technical cycles
• Climate change Each of these will have its own theory sections, and then an exam at the end. Completing all three segments will grant you 15 study credits for completing the full course package.

Students must complete all 3 course sections and the exams

Environmental and Technical Cycles a 15-credit online course that is also the second part in a larger set of SSE courses.

Students of the other UAS (Degree students and Open Studies’ path students): Enroll for the course via Ilmoittaudu/Enrol. Use your student email on the enrollment form. You will receive starting instructions immediately after registering and you can start the course. If you can’t find starting instructions, please send email campusonline@lab.fi

Others/Open UAS students: Enrol via Avoin AMK ilmoittautuminen/Open UAS Enrolment. You will receive starting instructions in a few days. A price of the course is 225 €.
